At the end of The Pearl of the Soul of the World…
It was after the true meaning of this very riddle came to pass that Aeriel, along with her shadow, Erin, and the spirits of the thirteen spirits of the brides of Irrylath from when he once was the icari began the next of many mission Aeriel would have to undertake; recover the lost sorcery of the world on the moon in hopes to repair and restore the land to its prior magnificence; as the Ancients had once made it. Ravenna had seen many possibilities play out prior to creating her riddle to turn the tide in the best direction for all of Moon’s creations. After all, the riddle was Ravenna’s final attempt to make her daughter, Oriencor, who so happened to be the White Witch, see the truth in all that remained; Oceanus was destroyed. All of it in hopes that Oriencor would turn from her wicked sorcery and take up the task of healing the world, the one and only world left for them.
What Ravenna had not anticipated was what would happen after an heir to the soul of the world was chosen should Oriencor fail to accept her calling. Aeriel willingly accepted Ravenna’s sorcery that had absorbed into her body, even though it cost her the one thing she had fought so much to have, her husband Irrylath. After discovering the extent to which Ravenna went to save her, saving her emerald eyes, mind, heart and soul and replacing her body with an identical biological construct, Aeriel followed her calling; accepting the flaming crown of the world and the task of healing the world. Along the way Aeriel had come to the realization that just like Ravenna’s sorcery began dispersing itself to all edges of the moon on its temperamental winds, so did Oriencor’s. The only difference being that all that was Oriencor’s sorcery searched until it found one with hateful spirit like that of its previous tenant.
The sorcery slowly began to make its way into the bodies of the inhabitants of the moon; Those with Ravenna’s sorcery felt her calling and began their trek to the city of Crystalglass to learn the ancient scrolls in order to begin the repair of the world. Oriencor’s dispelled sorcery found its next Master in Alementia, a scorned and beaten slave who was once of noble birth. She possessed in her strong blood of the ancients and a spirit that could be kindred to that of Oriencor’s. Her sorcery found its way into the heart of Alementia, infecting her with the same darkness as that of its previous owner.
Now Aeriel has not only the task of helping to heal the world with the aid of her new found inhabitants of Crystalglass, possessors of Ravenna’s Sorcery, but also Alementia, who along with her minions and new ‘sons’, icari fashioned from weak willed teenage males, vampyres like that which once was Irrylath who have yet to drink of human souls, stops at nothing to cause the utter destruction of the moon. And if that is not enough, Irrylath still pursues his vow to find a way to break Aeriel free of the Ravenna’s sorcery and bring her back to him, unaware of what she is now. For that he seeks the assistance of Talb the duarough mage to find any way possible.
So in this world of After the Pearl Breaks[/b] what will you be? Will you be a member of one of the kingdoms, going through the normal life struggles? Be one of those bestowed with Ravenna’s sorcery to assist in healing a land leaguered sore? Or will be one of those under the influence of Alementia, hell bent on the destruction of the only place left that can sustain your life? Either way the plot thicken with numerous directions the world can take from here.
Palms together, Syllva and her Istern sons bowed to her (Aeriel). Talb, Roshka, and duaroughs made reverence. The islanders, the bowwomen, even Sabr’s dismounted calvary knelt. Orroto-to’s desert folk gravely knodded. Even Pendarlon and Avarclon and the other lons saluted her. All paid homage but the king of Avaric (Irrylath), who wept, and the bandit queen (Sabr), who could not console him.
Erin Still had a hold of her hand. The burning crown’s fire seemed to affect her no more than the fire of the sword. Aeriel was glad of it, for someone bold enough to not let her go. It would be a long road to NuRavenna (Crystalglass). The light of the crown blazed bright against the night. As she and Erin set out, she heard Brandl’s bell-sweet harp behind them, his clear, young, voice raised in song:
On Avaric’s white plain,
where an icarus now wings
To steeps of Terrain
on Tour-of-the-Kings,
And Damozels twice-seven
his brides shall become:
A far cry from heaven,
a long road from home –
Then strong-hoof of a starhorse
must hallowed him unguessed,
If adamant’s edge is to plunder
his breast.
Then, only, may the Warhorse
and Warrior arise
To rally the Warhosts, and thunder
the skies.
But first there must assemble
ones icari would claim.
A bride in the temple
must enter the flame,
With steeds found for six brothers, beyond
a dust deepsea,
And new arrows reckoned, a wand
given wings –
Then when a princess-royal’s
to have tasted of the tree,
Then far from Esterneese’s
city, these things:
Whereafter shall commence
such a cruel sorceress war,
To wrest recompense
for a land leaguered sore.
With her broadsword bright burning,
a shadow black as night,
From exile returning,
shall dare dragons’ might
For love of one above who, flag unfurled,
lone must stand,
The pearl of the soul of the world
in her hand.
